Generosity isn’t a money thing but a heart thing.  When we encounter an abundant God who lavishes His love on us without reserve or indication of stopping, it changes us.  It causes us to hold things differently.  Jesus said, “you can’t serve both God and money... You will hate the one and love the other.”  Our generosity becomes a reflection of our heart and the openness that we live with.  Money is not something we serve but a tool in our hands that God uses.  Generosity is taking our time, talent and resources and moving them toward something bigger then ourselves.

This most generous God who gives seed to the farmer that becomes bread for your meals is more than extravagant with you. He gives you something you can then give away, which grows into full-formed lives, robust in God, wealthy in every way, so that you can be generous in every way, producing with us great praise to God.
— 1 Corinthians 9:10
